“Doubt”

“I think, therefore I am”. This phrase, attributed to 17th century French philosopher Rene Descartes, sounds great. It speaks to the idea that the act of thinking is proof our one’s existence. The quotation, however, also has a balancing idea: “I doubt, therefore I am”. In order to doubt, one must be thinking, thus fulfilling the original idea of thinking as defining one’s existence.
